will you be my valentine? // cards in a pinch

This time of year, everyone seems to be talking about love, candy, and going out to dinner. Whether you've been looking forward to Valentine's Day since Christmas, or you can barely even remember the last time you gave a Valentine (4th grade, maybe...?), this season prompts us to think a little harder about the people in our lives that make our hearts happy. One of my favorite things to do in mid-February is to write out cards for my family and friends to tell them how much they mean to me-- and I highly recommend you do the same! But, what do you do when the 14th is... well, tomorrow? P&C has got you covered!

1 // pick a card... any card!

Let's be honest-- aesthetic cards are hard to come by now-a-days, especially if you're not too keen on spending too much cash. To save you both time and money, I've created 4 super cute cards (if I do say so myself) for you to simply print out. The first step is the hardest-- picking which one you want! Once the decision has been made, print the images from the PDF file here, download the images from this page, or take a screenshot from either. Note: if you want the card smaller than a full page, change the print layout from landscape to portrait. Take a peek at all 4 below:

2 // add a little somethin' somethin'

Once you've printed and cut your image to the right size, mount it on paper-- scrapbook, cardstock, construction, or even looseleaf! I mounted mine on a paper bag. Now's your time to make your card personal, so be creative! Mounting your card will not only make it look a whole lot cuter, but will also make it easier to write on the back. Want to make it extra special? Add some glitter, ribbons, or gems. Scroll down to use mine for inspiration:

3 // sugar and spice... it's time to say something nice!

The whole point of a card is what it says. Sometimes, cards can be hard to write, especially if you're making it for someone you see everyday. If you need a little extra help, use this formula:

[Greeting, such as 'Hi!' or 'Dear'] *insert name*,

Happy Valentine's Day! *add in a joke here, if you'd like*

I just wanted to let you know how much you mean to me. *Proceed to tell them how much they mean to you! Be specific-- tell a story of a time they really helped you out, or made you feel loved*

Thanks for being such an awesome *insert title here: friend, sister, etc.*!

Love, *(if appropriate to the situation)*,

~ *your name*

If you're still stuck, here's an example of what I wrote to my sister, Abi:

Valentine's Day is more than all that ushy mushy and ooey gooey stuff you see in the movies. It's a time when we should really, seriously appreciate those around us and what they do for us year-round. Making valentines isn't an activity limited to elementary schoolers and people who send kissy face emojis to each other. It's a way for everyone to process and express emotions that might otherwise go unconsidered. So, write some cards! A few minutes of your time can end up impacting someone else for a lifetime and beyond.

Sending all our love to you from here on P&C this Valentine's Day!
